First day without food shopping - haggis sandwiches

Well I was all smug at not going into any shops today, until I got home and realised that I have NO onions, none. The nearest I’ve got is one bulb of garlic. Also I only have, sorry had, one potato. I ate it tonight. I thought it would be a lot longer before I started noticing things I haven’t got to be honest. No onions! How is it possible to cook without onions? Everything has onions in, except for things which ought to.
Been looking at what I’ve got and soaked some beans as I don’t want to end up eating just beans at the end of this challenge. The other fear is sushi – I seem to have two packets of nori seaweed and two packs of sushi rice which, if you’ve ever made sushi, you’ll know goes a long, long way. So I need to start eating that regularly.
I did think it would be a week or so before I was stretching my imagination but tomorrow I have haggis, mayonnaise and beansprout sandwiches to take to work.
We got pastries AND cake AND fruit at work today.

Can you trade things? Might some people from the lost plot be able to swap some onions.leeks they have stored with you, or some other folks from the allotments.

Hello freebananas,
Hmmm...maybe - they do say on the Lost Plot webpage that anyone who turns up can take some produce away with them but at this time of year the pickings are pretty slim and I was happy just to be digging.
I haven't missed the onions as much as I expected to be honest but I shall be keeping my eyes open for alternative sources of food and will certainly investigate the possibilities of swapping before giving up when I've still got food left. Hmmm...good idea though - I've still get plenty of beansprouts but fresh veg are going to be thin on the ground in my kitchen soon - maybe I could make cake to take down to the allotment and swap slices for onions and sprouts maybe (most people must have something kicking around). They do have a central tea shop run by volunteers on a weekend - so it says in the allotment newsletter ('Weed it and Reap' - love it). I'm not down there tomorrow but next week is the big polytunnel erecting day so I might do it then.
Thanks
